Ubi concordia · ibi victoria

Long range precision shooting in Argentina

We are the non-profit association that brings together Argentina's long range shooters. We organize competitions, train shooters and work alongside the Argentine Army so the discipline grows with safety and technical standards on par with international ones.

The association

Where there is unity, there is victory

The Asociación Civil Unión Long Range de Argentina is a non-profit organization devoted to the technical and sporting development of long range shooting. Our motto sums up the idea we were founded on: Argentine long range moves forward when its shooters share knowledge, ranges and common rules.

Long range shooting takes much more than a good rifle. Ballistic calculation, reading the wind and the conditions, and well-tuned equipment: that is what we teach, train and put to the test at every match.

Disciplines

Long range formats

We follow the formats recognized worldwide and the criteria of the organizations that set international standards. ICFRA (International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations) is the international body that governs long range fullbore rifle shooting, including F-Class, and organizes its world championships. The US National Rifle Association (NRA) publishes the high power and F-Class competition rules used as a reference across much of the Americas.

01

PRS

Precision Rifle Series. Stages with targets at varying distances, changing shooting positions and limited time.

02

F-Class

Supported prone shooting at fixed distances, rewarding the precision and consistency of every shot.

03

T-Class

A variant for tactical-configuration rifles, with its own equipment rules.

04

ELR

Extreme Long Range. Targets at extreme distances, where ballistics and wind reading decide everything.

How we compete

A shooter, a spotter and steel targets beyond one kilometer

ULRA competitions are shot in two-person teams. The shooter fires from the prone position while the spotter, behind, calls where each shot landed and suggests corrections. The team with the most hits in the least time wins, and the farthest targets are worth more.

2 team members: shooter and spotter
21 shots per shooter, including the cold bore shot
9 min to complete the string, plus 5 of preparation
12 kg maximum rifle weight with optics and accessories
Firing line at a ULRA match: prone shooter with spotters and scopes behind

Light caliber

Cartridges with a case head equal to or smaller than the .308 Winchester, such as the 6.5 Creedmoor or the .260 Rem. Targets between 505 and 1,030 meters.

Heavy caliber

Cartridges that do not exceed the caliber or energy of the .338 Lapua Magnum, such as the .300 Win Mag or the 7 mm. Targets between 820 and 1,560 meters.

The course of fire

It opens with a cold bore shot that counts as a bonus. Then up to five shots on each of four targets, from nearest to farthest.

Hit verification

Every shot is verified by the range officer and a second official, with cameras recording the whole string. The farthest targets carry a light-signal hit sensor.
